Alvilda's Return is a project I have been working on for a few years. I work on it in my free time so there are periods where it goes untouched, then (usually the summer break) when I am actively working with it.
There are multiple ideas driving Alvilda's Return forward and there have been moments where I forgotten to mention a part I consider obvious, but yet by missing it I have missed something key that ties together the other elements.
The mechanics and narrative are tied together, which is something I think is very important part of design by missing something I am missing a link in the chain.
On the site I have tried to explain the overarching ideas behind the game.
Then followed it with example mechanics or puzzles.
Where I can I have included video examples to illustrate the design concepts and game themes. As it's a prototype which is focused on mechanics, it is not the most visually arresting so I worry that viewers will not click on the video links and fully immerse themselves in the game idea.
Additionally I have tried to include materials that are actually visually interesting to look at. The concept art helped to visualise some of the ideas I discussed when creating the game.
